Musician Sergio Mendes from Brazil has died at the age of 83. He worked with The Black Eyed Peas.

It was reported by TMZ that the famous Latin artist who made music for the James Bond movies died in Los Angeles.

That song, “Real In Rio,” which Mendes and John Legend made for the animated movie Rio (2012) got them nominated for an Oscar.

In his 70-year career, he won three Grammys.

When Mendes played bossa nova music in the samba style, he often mixed it with funk.

His work includes jazz greats like Herb Alpert and dozens of other famous artists.

The 1980s James Bond movie Never Say Never Again had a song by Mendes as its title.

His band, Brasil ’66, became famous with his leadership.

The Black Eyed Peas and Mendes re-recorded a version of Mendes’ first big hit, “Mas que Nada,” in 2006.

They had worked together for decades and were married to fellow performer Gracinha Leporace.

Mendes began performing in Brazil’s nightclubs, but his biggest hits were in the US.

Along with Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Stan Getz, and Charlie Byrd, he was asked to play at the famous Bossa Nova Festival in Carnegie Hall in 1962.

Two years later, he moved to California, where he met a number of famous musicians and record producers.

Afterward, he sang the song “The Look of Love,” which was nominated for an Oscar, at the 1968 Academy Awards.

“The Fool on the Hill,” “Scarborough Fair,” and “Never Gonna Let You Go” are some of his greatest hits.

As a Brazilian artist, Mendes was one of the most famous and successful in the world.

Many of the albums he made went gold or platinum over the course of his career.
