Fans are devastated. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing.

Radio host Kat Simons died, and her friends are remembering the “cherished” and “devoted” star who left a “impossible void in our hearts.”

The radio host Kat Simons has died, and her friends are heartbroken and writing sad tributes to her.

Today was Kat’s last day working at Mix 98.1 Richmond in Virginia for more than 25 years.

Kat died, but no one knows why yet.

On Saturday, her radio station broke the sad news, saying that she was a “cherished friend” who “left a void in our hearts.”

“It is with profound sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Kat Simons,” on Facebook, they said.

“This death has left a hole in our hearts that doesn’t seem worth filling.”

“Kat brought joy to our lives for decades by always being dedicated to her job, her listeners, her coworkers, and her sponsors.”

“She was more than a voice on the radio; she was a cherished friend and a comforting presence, always offering a kind word or a sweet question with sincere curiosity.”

“Kat’s life was a symphony of kindness and dedication, played out over the airwaves of Virginia radio,” the statement said.

“For thirty years, she informed, entertained, and kept us company, her warm, smoky voice becoming a household staple throughout Richmond and Hampton Roads.”

Kat, who was born in Elkins, West Virginia, grew up on a farm with her family and developed a love for animals.

She fought for animal rights her whole life and was famous for her radio show Pet of the Day.

TRIBUTES FOR EMOTIONAL
Kat loved everyone, not just people. She loved animals too. “Her kind heart was shown by her beloved cats and dog, Stevie,” Mix98.1 Richmond said.

The Alzheimer’s Association, SPARC, the Children’s Hospital, and the Henrico Humane Society were some of the charities she worked with.

“Either at work or at home, she was always there with me.” “Being with her was always a source of comfort and pleasure,” the tribute continued.

Kat left behind a legacy of love and kindness that will always be with us. I appreciate everything you did, Kat.”

Virginia This Morning co-host Bill Bevins also said nice things about Kat. He worked with her on the radio for many years.

People would say, ‘Nobody’s that nice,’ because they could tell it was real, he told CBS affiliate WTVR.

She was, though. She was definitely that. There was sincerity in it. She really did care.”

Bill remembered that Kat would help people by having them on her show.

“She was a person’s Red Cross.” “That was really cool of her,” he said.

“Imagine someone or something that needs help, and Kat will come to mind.”

According to Richmond radio host Melissa Chase, “women in radio just got together all the time to make sure we were taking care of each other because it was definitely a boys’ club when we first got started.”

It was like having a mom for women in radio. She helped us in a lot of ways.

Later in life, Kat moved to Midlothian, Virginia, and for many years hosted the midday show on Mix 98.1 Richmond, which used to be called Lite 98.

One of her last Instagram posts, from June 17, asked people to adopt a “sweet and cuddly” dog she had met at a nearby rescue shelter.
