Tragic news: music legend suddenly passed away

The last surviving founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gary Rossington, has passed away. At the time, he was 71 years of age.

The band posted the terrible news on its Facebook page. We must inform you, with tremendous regret, that Gary Rossington, our brother, friend, family member, songwriter, and musician, passed away today.

Gary is currently playing it cool in paradise with his Skynyrd brothers and family. In this sad time, kindly remember Dale, Mary, Annie, and the entire Rossington family in your prayers.

Rossington was a well-known survivor, but at this time, there is no additional information available about his passing. He suffered serious injuries in a 1977 plane disaster that also claimed the lives of four of his bandmates, leading to a lengthy break for the group.

Rossington and other tragedy survivors joined the band when it was resurrected ten years later by Ronnie Van Zant, the brother of the late Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman.

Although the founding members, with the exception of Rossington, left the band for a variety of reasons, they continued to write music and play for decades after their reunion. While Rossington underwent heart surgery in 2021, he continued to rock till the very end.

Fans and professionals from the industry quickly paid their condolences to the late artist Gary Rossington. Others appreciated him for his musical contributions.

One fan asserted that Gary Rossington’s talent and influence played a significant role in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s status as “one of America’s three finest rock bands ever and a Southern rock-style Led Zeppelin.” Another added, “Gary Rossington has left.” “Among the greatest and a forerunner of a classic and beloved look and sound.”

Rossington acknowledged that it was “weird” to hear other people perform the band’s songs, even though he stuck with them to the end. “The tunes and the notes are identical. I think it makes sense. In his words to Rolling Stone, “That sounds just like our band. It’s strange that I can’t find the original band when I check around. Then I see someone standing in for me, which is odd.

He was happy that many of their fans shared his enthusiasm for their music, and he hoped that their songs would live on long after all of the band members had passed away. He continued, “Me, Allen Collins, and Ronnie Van Zant formed this band with the hope of going big, and that hope was realized. “They’d adore it if their music continued to play after they passed away.”
