We won’t be seeing Dolly Parton any more

Fans of Dolly Parton, big news. What many of us had anticipated hearing from the Queen of Country was ultimately said. She admitted that at 76, she’s probably finished performing live.

She won’t necessarily stop performing, though. “I don’t think I’ll ever go on tour again, but I do know I’ll occasionally perform unique shows here and there. Maybe perform a few gigs at a festival or over a long weekend. But I don’t have any plans to embark on a full-fledged tour any longer,” she told Pollstar.

“I’ve been doing that throughout my life, and it takes a lot of time and effort. I like to spend more time at home with my hubby, she said. “I don’t want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time; we’re getting older. Something might occur. If I were gone and someone needed me, I wouldn’t feel great about that. Or I would feel bad if I had to end a tour early because someone at home needed me and I couldn’t leave the fans behind.

We can’t hold it against her since it’s only a reasonable response to aging as an entertainment icon. She is obviously keeping active despite spending less time on the road. Her plate is already full with other endeavors, such as her own line of dog toys, new music, movies, and new music videos.

Her CD Run, Rose, Run, which was written as a companion piece to the novel of the same name that she co-wrote with James Patterson, is undoubtedly her most notable recent endeavor. The book quickly became a best-seller, and a movie deal was soon in the works. And fortunately for us, according to Deadline, Parton will join the cast of Run, Rose, Run and make a comeback on the big screen. She is also a co-producer of the movie.

(The narrative centers on Annie Lee, a teenage musician who longs to “make it” in country music but who is also hiding from a troubled past. All of the people she meets along the way have an impact on her journey, but Ruthanna especially takes her under her wing.)

Even for when the movie is finished, Parton has her next endeavor planned. Working on a rock album is she. (!!!) There was “no better time to do it,” she said when she learned that she had been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “Hopefully I’m going to have a really terrific album when I level out from finishing the movie. I’m eager to experience it.

Naturally, we are as well.
