Well known TV personality passed away today

A famous celebrity chef who was praised for making easy and comforting meals has died at the age of 66.

Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has died. He was 66 years old.

The famous TV chef had been fighting cancer since 2022 and bravely told his fans about it.

In a statement released Thursday, Myers’ Hairy Bikers co-star Si King shared the sad news.

“Hello everyone,” Si said. I’m afraid I have some bad news. Dave has been fighting cancer for a few years now, as most of you know.

“Dave died peacefully at home last night, February 28, 2024. His wife Lili, his family, his close friend David, and I were with him.”

“Everyone who knew Dave is heartbroken over his death.” Both his wife and her children, Iza and Sergiu, made him very happy. Dave loved them like his own children.

There are times when I’m not sure I can put into words how I feel.

“Right now I can’t follow my best friend on her journey.” I will always miss him and the link and friendship we had for fifty years.

“God speed, brother. You are and always will be a light in this world.”

“See you later.” “Love you.”

More than 20 years ago, Myers and King became famous as the Hairy Bikers.

They rode their motorcycles all over the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world, stopping to eat and cook wherever they went.

The Hairy Bikers Go West, their newest BBC show, just started airing in the UK a few weeks ago.

Myers said it was “a dream come true” to be back on his motorcycle in the first episode.

Plus, “I wasn’t sure I’d ever get back on the saddle again.”

“I felt like I would never be able to walk or balance again. I never thought I’d be riding a bike again.”

In an interview to start the series, Si said, “This one was extra special because of Dave’s health and how much he loves and is determined to do what he does.”

“It took a lot of courage and energy to keep doing it while he was getting treatment.”

In May 2022, Myers told the Hairy Bikers: Agony Uncles podcast that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He did not say what kind of cancer he had, though.

Later that year, he told BBC Radio Cumbria how his wife had been affected by his diagnosis.

“It puts a lot of stress on Lil, my partner,” he said.

“But Si drove us from hospital to hospital for a week.” London coming in and going out.

“Lil had to leave for a week. Si came to see me, took me to the hospital, and cooked a lot of food for me to freeze.

“The first round of chemo was very bad for me.” My hair fell out by the second batch. That was it.”
