Jennifer Runyon, best known for her roles in Ghostbusters and the sitcom Charles in Charge, has died at the age of 65. Her passing was confirmed by family members and reported by multiple media outlets.

According to statements shared publicly, Runyon died on March 6 after what friends described as a brief battle with cancer. Family members said she passed away surrounded by loved ones.

A Familiar Face of the 1980s

Runyon became a recognizable television and film actress during the 1980s. In Ghostbusters, she appeared in the memorable university ESP testing scene opposite Bill Murray. Though her role was brief, it became one of the film’s well-known early moments.

She also gained popularity portraying Gwendolyn Pierce in Charles in Charge, where she appeared alongside Scott Baio. Her television career included appearances in shows such as Quantum Leap, Murder, She Wrote, and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Career Beyond Film and Television

Born in Chicago on April 1, 1960, Runyon began acting in the early 1980s and built a career spanning decades. In addition to acting, she later stepped back from Hollywood and worked as a teacher while remaining connected to creative projects.

She also portrayed Cindy Brady in A Very Brady Christmas, introducing her to a new generation of television viewers.

Tributes From Friends and Fans

Following news of her death, friends, co-stars, and fans shared tributes online. Actress Erin Murphy remembered Runyon as a “special lady” and spoke about their longtime friendship. Fellow actors also reflected on her kindness and positive presence both on and off screen.

Runyon is survived by her husband, Todd Corman, and their two children.

Her death marks the loss of another familiar face from 1980s television and film, remembered by many for her warmth, charm, and memorable appearances in some of the decade’s most recognizable productions.
