Woman fell in love with a man 27 years older than her and had a baby with him, but she was “upset” after their first encounter.
People always look at a couple from New York when they go somewhere. A lot of people thought they were father and daughter because of their big age difference. Gretchen Dillon, 36, had only been with women before she met Michael Dillon, 63, at the store. They both live in Syracuse, New York, and met by chance in 2014 at a grocery store.
They became friends after some small talk, and it grew into something more over time. After being together for seven months, they took their relationship to the next level and began dating. Their age difference never got in the way of their love. They got married and decided to start a family after being together for three years.
Getting closer and deeper in their relationship
People in their families, groups of friends, and even strangers judged them over the years. People often think that Michael is the baby’s grandfather since they have a son now.
“People often mistake my husband for my dad, but we just laugh it off,” Gretchen said. People often change their minds about a couple when they get to know them better and start to see why they belong together.
Even Gretchen’s friends tried to get her to end the relationship in the beginning. “My friend tried to speak out against my choice to marry him.” “She told me over and over that I was going to be a widow,” she said.
She loved Michael, though, and didn’t care what other people thought. No matter what other people said, she was going to marry him. That friend was not invited to their wedding. For good, Gretchen chose to cut her out of her life.
Michael’s friends also didn’t get why he had to date someone almost thirty years younger than him. But after seeing them together and getting used to having them around, they knew why they were such a good match.
They had a bad first night together, which made Gretchen sad. After the fact, she said she was “upset” because she had never imagined being with an older man.
She had to get used to the idea that she would be with Michael for the rest of her life before she was happy about it. Now she loves their life together more than ever. In October 2021, they had a son named Shannon. Michael had a child from a previous relationship and was also there for his stepchild.
Gretchen said that Michael’s role as Shannon’s father was different. She thinks that his age made him an even better dad because of how much he knew and had done.
Even though his body won’t let him ride his horse with his son all day, he still loves playing with him. He’s a very involved dad who is very patient with his kid.
At the same time, some people think Michael is Gretchen’s dad and Shannon’s grandfather. Their attitude is that it doesn’t bother them and that it’s funny.
Having a child together has been the best thing ever, but it has also been very hard at times. Shannon brings home viruses that Michael’s immune system can’t fight off, but Gretchen’s immune system can because he is old enough to have a playgroup.
They have learned, though, to be careful to keep Michael healthy. In fact, Gretchen sometimes feels like Michael is the younger one and she is the older one.
In the middle of everything, Gretchen told people who were going through the same thing to trust their gut and do what they want because life is too short to be unhappy.
